New Clubhouse!

Posted by Nobody on 19 November 2019

We are delighted to announce that the clubhouse at Albury Heath will soon be undergoing major renovation and extensions. This includes a new storage building, improved changing rooms and toilets and an enlarged social area with glass doors opening onto the heath. Work is expected to commence in February 2020.

This amazing project has been made possible by grant money received from the Premier League, The FA and Government’s Football Foundation, in excess of £400,000, as well as £150,000 from the London Marathon Charitable Trust and £50,000 from the Garfield Weston Trust. The grant covers the cost of the building works and new grounds maintenance machinery so the condition of the pitches will also be drastically improved.

Albury Sports Club Limited is a charitable trust promoting sports for all in the community and includes Albury FC, with over 400 playing members, as well as Albury Cricket and Rounders Club with over 200 members.

Carl Nunn, Director of Albury Sports Club said “I really believe this club provides such an important role in our community, not only by promoting healthy activities, getting children away from screens and out of the house, but by getting people together, parents and children, building and nurturing friendships and quality time together. The clubhouse will not only provide a great environment for getting together, but provides a base which allows the club to thrive and grow for future generations. Thank you so much to the Football Foundation along with London Marathon and Weston Garfield for making this happen.”

Although the main use of the building will be as the home for the football club, the clubhouse will be also be made available for the use of the community for hire and as a meeting place for walkers and dog walkers during the day and for local people that may wish to use as a work away from home location. Other clubs and individuals are also invited to apply such as personal trainers, Pilates and yoga instructors, walking, biking and riding clubs All ideas are welcome.

The club, which has over the years raised £30,000 towards the project but still needs another £15,000, will host a Big Party Night to celebrate the recent awards at Albury Heath on Saturday, April 25. Please save the date. This will be an important fundraiser and all members of the football, cricket and rounders club and the local community and friends are invited.
