Albury Derby

Forgive me for using a footballing cliché but this really was a game of two halves.
On a bright and sunny Spring morning, we hosted the Eagles at Fortress Tillingbourne.
With a full squad and anticipation high, we kicked off with high hopes.
With typical industry, Thomas and William took control of the midfield, Arthur with some beautiful link up play and with Aaron and Freddie snapping into tackles on the wings, we started to take control. There were long period of cool, crisp passing and measured control.
We went close on a number of occasions; William smashing a long range effort, that was tipped round the post and Max hitting the underside of the crossbar with a screamer. With Lucian and Kieran shutting the door at the back, it was all one way traffic. If this was a boxing fight, the Eagles would have been given a mandatory 8 count.
It was then that a moment of real wonder happened. A jinking, swerving, solo effort by the fox in the box, George, was finished with aplomb in the bottom corner. Just desserts for all the hard work. A goal of the season contender indeed.
After some delightful half time oranges, unfortunately that is where the other half of the game started.
Despite a superb battling performance from all the boys, late goals from the Eagles settled the match, but nonetheless, a passionate and mature performance by the boys against a very strong side.
Coach Abs was full of praise for their efforts and endeavour.
