Maybe they are listening at training!

It was a freezing 9am kick-off at home as Albury Eagles welcomed local rivals Farncombe Honey Badgers, with the boys keen to return to winning ways following last week’s defeat to Horsell.
Despite the cold, the Eagles began brightly, looking sharp and first to the ball. Clearly taking lessons from their midweek training, the team kept their passing short and sweet, moving the ball quickly and confidently. Ashton stepped in for the injured Jenson at centre back and slotted in seamlessly, alongside the ever-composed and reliable Cian.
In midfield, Max was in fine form and it was his lovely pass that fed Marcell to open the scoring. Leo, controlling things in the centre, was unlucky not to make it 2–0 shortly after, his effort crashing against the post. Marcell’s tenacity soon paid off again as his looping shot found the back of the net for his second, before Leo added a well-deserved goal of his own. It was an encouraging and dominant opening period from the Eagles.
The second period saw the introduction of Rui, who was quick to pounce on a Farncombe error to make it 4–0. Down the left-hand side, Sullivan at left back combined well with Rui just ahead of him, while Tommy in goal did his best to stay warm in the bitter conditions. At half-time, the boys were rightly praised for an excellent first half, full of neat passing and strong closing down of the opposition.
After the break, the Honey Badgers showed some fight and pulled a goal back to make it 4–1. The Eagles responded positively, however, and Sullivan restored the four-goal cushion with a clever free kick, making it 5–1 at the end of the third period.
In the final quarter, the Eagles finished as they had started, playing quick, positive football with some excellent wing play. Digby exploited the space down the right wing and was rewarded with a well-taken goal on the counterattack, shortly after Leo had scored his second of the match. Max continued to dominate in midfield, breaking up Farncombe attacks and posing a constant threat going forward, unlucky not to get his name on the scoresheet. Rui added his second with a tap-in from close range and was inches away from a hat-trick, his cheeky flick just drifting wide.
A superb win for the Eagles and a fantastic performance to head into the Christmas holidays on a high.
Eagle of the Week: Marcell, for his constant running and tenacious attitude throughout the match.
