So to begin, it would be remiss of me not to mention Lucian's long range goal against Farncombe Meteors last week. A beauty. Now we won't ever mention that game again.
Instead we'll start in the beautiful surrounds of Fernhurst where a game of epic proportions was underway.
Unfortunately it began poorly with an early goal to the home team but with typical resilience, the Hawks immediately bounced back. William who had a massive game, won the ball back and passed to George, who slid the ball in for the equaliser.
There was barely time to get a coffee from the impressive club house before Fernhurst scored again with a free kick from almost the half-way line. The travelling crowd became concerned, but not to worry, Max was at his towering best, picking up the ball deep, beating a couple of defenders, and rifling a goal from the edge of the box.
The boys were really starting to play well, with super slick passing in midfield from Thomas and Arthur, some lovely marauding runs from Aaron and some nice touches from Lucian and Kieran in defence. With Kieran reading the game well and anticipating attacks, the opposition rarely had chance to threaten.
With the game finely balanced and both teams playing well, Freddie with his normal ferocious tackling forced a turnover, and Max picking up the ball, found Will, who finished smartly.
It was the first time we had our noses in front and it was left to Max, who picked up the ball from a throw-in by Thomas, to put the game beyond doubt.
The team looked really on it and played some great football, and it was a nice way to put the misery of the previous week to bed.
With his typical passion and battling peformance, making every count pass, it was George who was nominated a very worthy MoTM.
On to the next game!
