It was a cold morning on the Heath. The Eagles girls were facing some friendly rivals from Mole Valley. Mole valley started with only 8 players after sickness had ripped through their squad. The Eagles fielded an excellent squad with subs.
The game started well for the Eagles. The extra player and the speed of passing meant that the ball rarely left the Mole Valley half. Soon the back of the net was bulging for the Eagles and Mole valley were kicking off again. The first ten minutes went the Eagles way and there were two more goals in the first ten minutes of the game.
After sustained attacks and the cold weather Mole valley had to drop down to a team of 7. The Eagles coaches reduced the Eagles to 7 aside, and the game was back on. With the decreased team size, spaces opened up. All the players on the field had to run and track back more. Their were opportunities, and battles for the ball. Emma found herself having to put in a long shift on the pitch marking Mole Valley’s star player. Seren was strong in goal creating a clear presence, with only one ball passing her. Ruby was the player of the match and was required to use her strong boot numerous times. Tab’s throw was on point as usual.
Molly had her strongest game in an Albury shirt and put herself on the score sheet. This was her first goal of the season. Amber continued to cause problems in mid-field along with Liv who once again found the net in both halves to put the Eagles comfortably clear. Ella also got a goal, with Freya adding two more goals to her Albury tally. Maiya had a strong game by committing to tackles and passing well. Maeve continued to cut lines through the mid-field. Lyla was the top goal scorer with 4 and getting the first Eagles “Hat-trick”.
